The Ins And Outs Of A Plasma Television Wall Mount

By Sharon Price

If you dropped every last penny of your income tax return into that new huge Plasma television set, and cant possibly squeeze out another couple hundred dollars for a new entertainment center to display it on, even if you just dont have the space, or maybe you prefer the look and feel that a wall mounted TV gives off, then a plasma television wall mount is definitely for you.

A plasma television wall mount is a relatively inexpensive way to mount your television set to the wall without having to deal with all of that extra furniture and equipment. A wall mount bracket has a slim line design for an attractive and unobtrusive appearance. Flat wall mounts offer solutions for your 'close to the wall' plasma mounting installations. There are also many different options that will allow you to adjust the screen to different angles so that you can watch TV from wherever you are in the room!

Option And Features Of A Plasma Television Wall Mount

A plasma television wall mount comes in different sizes in order to equip the weight of your plasma TV. Be sure to familiarize yourself with not only the size of your new purchase in inches, but also in weight. Plasma television wall mounts normally holds screen about 1.3' away from the wall this varies from one product to another, but generally, you want it to be as close to the wall as possible. There are also options that allow the Screen can be mounted horizontally or vertically and also for screen orientation can be changed from horizontal to vertical once screen is mounted.

One of the best things about having a plasma television wall mount is the theft security it provides. There are usually theft resistant security screws that secure plasma to mount to ensure its safety in your home. Its easy for a theft to grab your television off of a credenza or shelf, but with resistant security screws, it takes too much time to try and steal your plasma TV. Another great option that a plasma television wall mount has is fasteners for wood stud and concrete installation. If you dont have very much wall space in your home, or maybe you living room was built with the fire place as the focal point, these fasteners make it easy! This way you can mount your television anywhere, even on the fire place.

DCMA really is a bad idea, but lately, most of the changes to copyright law strike me as bad ideas. It's not like the new laws are protecting the rights of the creators--in fact they protect the property rights of the publishers and other large conglomerate rights holders. Effectively, these laws stifle information spread. There's got to be a way to protect the rights, and income, of creators, generate income for publishers, and still make information available.

Why I Like HDTV

All The Latest News From The HDTV World

In-store Lighting Conditions play a big role in what you see om an HDTV. A recent disturbing trend at the big box retailers is a huge boost in the ambient light levels within the TV department. Boosted light levels (typically 4 or more times higher than in most viewing rooms) can mask differences in contrast and black levels among sets and you will be attracted to the brightest, not necessarily the best performing set. Dont be fooled by this cheap trick. Keep in mind that todays flat panel sets (plasma or LCD) are far brighter than the old projector or large screen CRT you will be replacing, and all will have far more than adequate brightness unless your room has skylights or uncovered windows and do a great deal of daytime viewing.

Buying and HTDV...Rely heavily on online user reviews, especially on Amazon. Stay away from TVs that dont have any (or many) reviews.

To calibrate your HDTV on your own, you might look for the THX Optimizer, which is found in the setup menus of a number of DVDs, including The Incredibles and Toy Story. THX Optimizer movies come with a pair of cardboard Optimizer glasses with blue lenses to help you adjust colour and tint settings. You can also buy the glasses from THX's Web site (www.thx.com) for $2. THX-certified DVDs can be found at many retailers for about $20.

And yeah, I think there's a lot of use for blogs in Higher Ed. I'm really impressed by some of the thought behind the various blog engines--particularly the way they use "themes."

I particularly see blogs as great for users who don't know/don't want to know HTML, but so far, all the blogs I've looked at can't recognize a URL and link it--you've got to know to use HREF's and anchor tags. I don't see my users doing that--I guess a script to recognize the http of a url and link it is too cumbersome.
